Incinerator Monitoring Group (IMG)
Would you like to know more about how SELCHP goes about disposing of your rubbish and producing electricity? Find out more about how the controlled route that the rubbish trucks take to get to and from the plant is monitored? And how emissions from the SELCHP chimney stack are measured and regulated? Perhaps you’d like to tell us what you think we are doing right – or wrong!
The IMG is a local resident’s forum which debates questions like these. It allows them to discuss all the previously agreed operating procedures and to check that those agreements are being followed – and acts as a channel of communication between SELCHP’s management and the community, ensuring residents have a way to voice any concerns.
Residents’ representatives meet with senior managers from the plant every three months, normally on a Tuesday evening following the Board Meeting of SELCHP Ltd. The IMG is chaired by an elected representative who is also invited to attend and report on the Board meetings. The IMG has been meeting for over 12 years.
The IMG is run by local representatives for the local community and although attendance is at the discretion of the Chairman and existing members of the forum, it has always been the case that local people who wish to attend may do so. Over the years IMG members have come from Silwood, Pepys, Evelyn and the Bridge Meadows area.
If you are interested in becoming a member and representing
your local community, and are prepared to spend a couple of hours over a coffee
on the IMG evenings please email or write to us, using the contact
us page or call 020 7394 4731 for further information.
